Re: Economy

Of course, there are classes in all countries. Also in socialist countries like the Soviet union, where officially no class differences existed... We can discuss this for ever, I guess. Class is probably something that some people would like to include in the game – and some not. Both is fine to me ...

Re: Economy

As I remember my childhood in Sweden, money was a big issue. Not always mentioned, but most of the time more or less present. It mattered if you had rich parents or not. I would make that a part of the back story of both PCs and NPCs. You could call it class if you want to bring a more political asp...

Spacial aspects of being a teenager in Sweden during the 80's

As I remember my life as a kid in a quite small town in the south of Sweden, the spacial aspects mattered a lot. For example, when you visited a friend it was important if he (in my case, not girls) lived in a villa or in an apartment (like me). The villa people – this was really how I saw it – were...

Re: "Bestiary"

The "monsters" of my early teenage years in the 80's – I was a tiny bookworm – were the moped gang. They used to sit on a fence, next to to our school. Spitting, screaming, smoking, burping, and using snus ( a moist powder  tobacco product, still common in Sweden) . They liked hard rock bands like W...

Re: Nostalgia-Rama [a look at the 1980's]

Well, I´d say it depends on where you want to go. On one hand, there is the national context – so far Sweden and US.  Some things (more or less) specific for Sweden in the 80's: only two national TV channels (both public service and none commercial) and very few private schools (most owned by the st...

Re: Archetypes and Social Standings

I hope there will be true 80s style equipment for each archetype. Imagine how much drama you could get from a stamp collection, a BMX bike, NIKE shoes, a camera, a Donkey Kong game, a Salomon back pack, a secret diary etc. And of course, some of those things could be archetype based. From the Kickst...

Re: Zonkartan i Zonkompendium 3

Re: Parental Supervision

I´d love to see parents as a real PROBLEM in this game. Perhaps I would use the Swedish organisation "Hem och Skola" ("Home and School"). They where very active in the 80's and hated everything that was fun. I have a feeling that many of the members where passive aggressive librarians, but perhaps t...

Re: Influences [Books, TV Shows, Movies, Art]

I see two completely different but possible sources of inspiration: Lars Tunbjörk (a Swedish photographer, who recently died, google and you will find his work) and Edward Hopper (you know, the lonely guy in the bar and so on...). To me, Stålenhag is quite in between those two. But of course, he has...
