Re: Sweden in the 80's

Part 3 of 3 Mobile phones existed, but they were bulky and expensive. In 1987, only 2% of the population owned mobile phones. One had to use the telephone network, which meant that you had to get hold of friends when they were at home. If you weren’t at home, you could call from a phone booth, a sma...

Re: Sweden in the 80's

Part 2 of 3 Music was as important then as now, and most young people had a stereo system at home, if not your own, then at least one in the living room or rec room. Vinyl records was the standard format, even if CDs appeared in 1982. It was common to copy the records to cassette tapes, so that you ...

This is what the area looks today, 20 years later: http://i594.photobucket.com/albu...

Sweden in the 80's

Part 1 of 3 For those of us who experienced the 1980s, it was a time that felt very modern to us – of course. It might be difficult for young people today to imagine a world without Internet or cell phones. Almost all communication had to go over telephone landlines or by letter. It might not have f...

Re: The ALPHA PDF - questions, comments, errata

Page 18: "The social democratic government has good diplomatic connections with both the Soviet Union and the US. But even if the public stance is always to never pick a side, it is an open secret that the Swedish military only really sees one obvious enemy: Soviet Russia." - Should read: "The Socia...

Re: The ALPHA PDF - questions, comments, errata

I have a question about aging the kids. It says in the book that when the kids turn a year older they gain skill points and when they turn 16, they're no longer playable, but there's nothing about how to age the kids. Is it based on gaining experience points or personal choice of the player or base...

Re: Problems of Setting

While reading through "Tales From the Loop", I saw that the magnetrine technology was useful mostly in the northern hemisphere, which limited its impact on the global economy. So, it's more a regional thing, and there are events in the book that appear to have made the technology more a complement t...

Re: Problems of Setting

The older kids in Stranger Things were, for the most part, playing a different game, as you said, but their game still overlapped with the younger kids' game, if that makes sense. As for the "can't be killed" aspect being abused. I'm totally going to homebrew in some hit points for the Kids and wha...
