Re: Alien: Colony War

fun surprise ... to find ... Charybdis had RPG scenarios tucked away in the back Really? I wasn't aware that Into Charybdis had a scenario. What is it called? I must have been thinking of something else. I could have sworn it had one but I just checked and Into Charybdis definitely does not have a ...

Re: KOSMOS68, the UPP, and You

Great post. Zozer has a ton of excellent material for their game Hostile that one can easily adapt to Alien.

(I'm partial to their Orbital game myself, but that's a whole other thing.)

Re: Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down?

I'm very interested on this game and seeing how Free League fleshes out the setting. There isn't much to work with, but then I thought the same thing when I heard they were making an Alien RPG and that has turned out to be one of my favorites of all time (and I've been doing the RPG thing since the ...

Re: Alien: Colony War

It was a fun surprise to me to find this novel as well as Charybdis had RPG scenarios tucked away in the back, and the next novel (forgot the title) will as well. Very cool.

Re: questions that came up playing the first time.

One thing that players get used to, a bit meta, is to try and rest now and then to drop 1 or 2 stress. Funny you should say that. Personally I think it's the opposite of "meta" and is actually good roleplaying. If you were these people in these situations you'd want to try to seek a safe ...

Re: Inspiration thread: Books, comics, movies set in a similar setting to Alien + Aliens?

The films Outland, Predator, and The Abyss, the novella Who Goes There? (likely better known as the film The Thing), the novels Almayer's Folly and Heart of Darkness (both by Joseph Conrad), and the graphic novel Whiteout (also made into a film) have all been inspirational. Edit: I just watched Deep...

Someone was asking for the Betty or Sotillo plans, here they are = https://www.deviantart.com/arthurdallas/gallery Thanks, those may come in very handy. Very nice ArthurDallas! I like your many maps! I have made some of my own maps for the "Sotillo" if someone wants an alternative. http:/...

3. Confusion for the GM and players if the ladders go up, down or both ways.
I've never seen a one-way ladder... ;)

Long-term campaigns: tips? ideas? scenarios?

A friend and I are keen to start up a long-term Alien campaign with some folks online. I'll be the Game Mother. Anybody have any ideas for keeping it fresh? That is, you can't just happen to run into xenomorphs and neomorphs everywhere you go. (Well, maybe in a Colonial Marines campaign but that's n...

Re: ALIEN: The Movie : The RPG

Just read that last night. Such a great way to spend time with his family as well as introduce his son to Alien. I've been introducing my kids to RPGs over the past year or two but Alien might still be a bit much for them at ages 9 (daughter) and 11 (son). Thus far we've played Basic Dungeons & ...
