Re: Ammo Dice...why?

I don't and have never disagreed with anything you just said. The standard source of supply ONLY produces and issues never fired brass. The standard source of supply is not likely viable. So let me repeat the second sentence you quoted and didn't acknowledge. Non-standard sources of supply become t...

Re: Ammo Dice...why?

We are saying the same thing. Non-standard sources of supply become the norm. That doesn't change Lake City producing brass and only using unfired brass to load ammo. Respectfully, I don't see how they could. 1: They are a huge, well known target. The Soviets are making that place glow immediately....

Re: Ammo Dice...why?

1: Credit where it is due, I do not recall another game that I have played with a suppression feature. This does change the nature of combat in this game significantly, and may allay many of my concerns once fully embraced/understood. 2: I get that there is no "Hollywood Style" slaughterfe...

Re: Ammo Dice...why?

The M16 had a ROF of 4 "shots." Each "shot" was actually 3 rounds, and the magazine capacity was correspondingly reduced to 10 instead of 30. There was no option to fire just one round from that weapon, or from many others. See: "a shot is usually a burst of 3 rounds."...

Re: Ammo Dice...why?

Many people have brought up the fact that a turn/round is 5-10 seconds...but everyone has left out the "Aim" component of their argument. This doesn't deal with the fundamental problem, which is that allowing players to opt for a single shot imbalances things by allowing them to achieve g...

Re: [ALPHA] Scrounging, Foraging, Hunting limitations

Per the Alaska Department of Fish and Wildlife: Adult females are somewhat smaller and weigh 800 to 1,300 lbs (364 – 591 kg). A 1,600-lb (726-kg) moose will dress out at about 950 lbs (431 kg), yielding approximately 500 lbs (227 kg) of meat. By way of comparison, for a rabbit.... The dress weight w...

Re: Ammo Dice...why?

I think that a soldier with an "A/B" Agility, and "A/B" Ranged Combat skill and a weapon reliability rating of "A/B" should have the reasonable ability to take a single shot at a single target without having to possible expend as many as six rounds to do so... Many peop...

Re: Ammo Dice...why?

Have you tried a straight-up fight under more forgiving circumstances? Broad daylight, maybe an ambush? (I haven't either -- working on setting up a trial game very soon -- but I expect it might change your perspective a lot about how things typically go?) Not yet. That is (hopefully) coming soon. M.

Re: Ammo Dice...why?

And yeah understood, Morticanis. Definitely we're all just figuring it out -- which is kinda nice because it gives a better picture of what new players will have to expect. A night fight in which there's a lot of shooting and moving around but not actually a lot of hits sounds pretty authentic to m...

Re: [ALPHA] Stationary encounters

Couple of excellent point already in this thread - lots of great ideas to pull from...here's my 2 cents. I think the tables might be a bit aggressive. I think that terrain modifiers are a great idea. I think that this is a great time to point out the value of recon. I think that if I was to hole up ...
