Re: Beta Feedback - Player's Manual Chapter 4 Combat

Page 81: Rabies: I don't know if it is intentional or not (several of us gave feedback on it but it could easily have been lost in the shuffle), but rabies is such a special disease it should be a rarity, and have its own rules: can only be cured by a vaccine, which must be administered within the i...

Re: Recommended books for inspiration?

For inspiration, I highly recommend a book that was recommended to me by one of the other members of the Facebook group: Arkady Babchenko's One soldier's war. Extremely well-written (Babchenko was a law student when he was conscripted, and later became a journalist who had to fake his own death to e...

Re: [ALPHA] Thoughts on Skills/Homebrew

That's an interesting idea, but is it necessary? How many rolls do you have? Consider: a given character may only make one roll per skill per session. They can already push ; this seems like pushing without consequence, yes? And then they can still push after that? The combination of all of those f...

Re: [ALPHA] Thoughts on Skills/Homebrew

I really like the idea of redistributing the skills, since some of them were too broad. A bit more skeptical re: mechanics under strength (even though Construction would certainly fit) and the distinction between HUMINT and the others, but it is clearly a step in the right direction. Generally speak...

Re: Fuel for thought

Hello, funny since I posted very similar thoughts on the TW2000 FB page a while back! Woodgas conversions wouldd be very common for civilian vehicles, and coal hydration and similar Ersatz fuels would be quite common as well....

Sounds good - that's what I would do as well. Veteran units would rate one higher (grunts at C, officers at B ....)

Re: [ALPHA] The Other Side: some thoughts on how to portray the Soviet army

I think it's a good idea to have some more background, if possible. From the perspective of a roleplaying game, it would probably be more useful to have general background of life in the Soviet Union in general, rather than whatever foibles of the Soviet Army. Even there, the concepts of above may ...

[ALPHA] The Other Side: some thoughts on how to portray the Soviet army

[cross-posted from FB] Since the game allows one to also play PCs from the Soviet side, and since it is always good to have opponents that are realistic and not cardboard cutouts, below please find a few thoughts on things that could be added to the base game ... or form the basis of a future expans...

Re: [ALPHA] Illness (rabies especially), wounds, hygiene, and more fun stuff ....

Normally, most (European) people will have had their DTP (diphteria - tetanus - polio) shots. They're valid for 10 years, and you'd think that (at least in the military) they'd have made sure mandatory vaccinations were up to date. But if not ..... good way to lose an arm. OK, I should stop coming u...
