Re: Recommended reading...

For the military stuff, "Team Yankee" (even though the end is meh) and "Red Storm Rising". For the "country at war", and a view from the other side, I warmly recommend Arkady Babchenko's "One soldier's war", about the war in Chechnya.. It is a gut punch, but indispensible in my view. To get a more d...

Re: Handling of DPs / XP and progression / Cardboard cutouts

Thanks Kirimdor, I will go lurk on Reddit and FB, I was a bit surprised at how little feedback I got here. I will try to find some suitable tokens for DPs......

Handling of DPs / XP and progression / Cardboard cutouts

Dear fellow GMs, I am now in possession of most of the Coriolis materials, and I had a couple of questions as I start preparing a campaign. a) Darkness Points: do you keep the total visible to your players? Some games do (like the French game "Noc", which even has a Gizmo to let your players see the...

Re: Beta Feedback - Player's Manual Chapter 4 Combat

Page 81: Rabies: I don't know if it is intentional or not (several of us gave feedback on it but it could easily have been lost in the shuffle), but rabies is such a special disease it should be a rarity, and have its own rules: can only be cured by a vaccine, which must be administered within the i...

Re: Recommended books for inspiration?

For inspiration, I highly recommend a book that was recommended to me by one of the other members of the Facebook group: Arkady Babchenko's One soldier's war. Extremely well-written (Babchenko was a law student when he was conscripted, and later became a journalist who had to fake his own death to e...

Re: [ALPHA] Thoughts on Skills/Homebrew

That's an interesting idea, but is it necessary? How many rolls do you have? Consider: a given character may only make one roll per skill per session. They can already push ; this seems like pushing without consequence, yes? And then they can still push after that? The combination of all of those f...

Re: [ALPHA] Thoughts on Skills/Homebrew

I really like the idea of redistributing the skills, since some of them were too broad. A bit more skeptical re: mechanics under strength (even though Construction would certainly fit) and the distinction between HUMINT and the others, but it is clearly a step in the right direction. Generally speak...

Re: Fuel for thought

Hello, funny since I posted very similar thoughts on the TW2000 FB page a while back! Woodgas conversions wouldd be very common for civilian vehicles, and coal hydration and similar Ersatz fuels would be quite common as well....

Re: CUF for NPCs

Sounds good - that's what I would do as well. Veteran units would rate one higher (grunts at C, officers at B ....)
