Re: My house rules and humble suggestions

V1 had a negative modifier for firing on the move. "Movement by Firer". SMGs (including carbines like M177) had no modifier, making them useful even though they have short range. V4 has no modifier for firing on the move. "close combat" might be a place in the rules where an smg...

Re: [ALPHA] My many notes on the Player's Manual

Re: [ALPHA] My many notes on the Player's Manual

In the confusion, you might have someone else's pack. It might have been in the vehicle you managed to get into, it might have been someone who didn't need it anymore and you grabbed it because your own pack is somewhere else and you can't get to it and a pack probably has some useful stuff. Just an...

Re: [ALPHA] THE WORLD AT WAR comments/feedback

Why do you want to constrain gamers to an official timeline? How does this make the game better? I expect consistency. Just as I expect a series of books, films, tv shows to be consistent within the world they have created. A well thought out world building is also nice. I think this generally make...

Re: [ALPHA] THE WORLD AT WAR comments/feedback

sure, you can do small stuff that doesn't really use the game's timeline. Just "war in Poland/Sweden against Soviet". But if you want a larger scale, the official timeline becomes the constraint the new stuff has to fit into.

Re: [ALPHA] THE WORLD AT WAR comments/feedback

Any description of the state of the world becomes canon when it's put into the game. This is the foundation that all other writers must conform to when writing new modules. If that foundation isn't solid, different writers will/might stray away in different directions creating an inconsistent world....

Re: What are machineguns? The game knows but refuses to admit it.

In the context of a game where scarcity of ammo (and other resources) is a central component, different usage is needed. Full auto area fire would be an exception, not the rule. Something to be used in an emergency. The pros of a mg of any kind is the stability (thanks to weight and bipod/tripod) co...
