Re: Large Campaign Map project

Absolutely love the idea for this project. Super cool endeavor, and so far it's looking great! In case it's helpful for unit placement, I mapped out the locations of all canon-mentioned units for 4th edition in google maps. The only one that's a bit squirrely is US V Corps (shown with yellow icons),...

Southern Germany - Setting info?

Hey all, Looking for some official input from FL on this topic. In the 4e canon listed in the Referee Manual, it's noted that in late '98 after the bombs start to fall, that the Soviets surge forward far enough to take some cities in Southern Germany - specifically Leipzig, Nuremberg, and Dresden, b...

Re: Southwestern TVD #1- Slovakia, Hungary & Austria

Really interesting work and well done! In 4e canon, PACT appears to have broken up due to the Soviets having to push their forces through NATO countries in the region. For example, we know that in 4e canon the US sent troops (ostensibly the US V Corps) to reinforce Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary,...

Re: Thoughts about Medical Aid.

That makes a lot of sense, and feels like the right call to me. Maybe if the players want to treat something without medical equipment while not taking a negative modifier, have your players first describe what they're doing that would provide a narrative reason for why they're able to treat a given...

Re: Thoughts about Medical Aid.

This feels a bit anticipatory. I understand the pain point - both the player and the Ref not having skill in medicine and yet making calls regarding whether or not medical tools are required to perform a given medical task. But HAS the player tried to perform brain surgery in a swamp with naught but...

Re: Armor Modifiers and penetration

So in my example, the AT4 should be able to penetrate an armor level of up to 10, because the armor modifier of -1 reduces the armor to a 9, which is still under the penetration limit?

Armor Modifiers and penetration

Hey all - curious to know how other Refs are interpreting the armor and penetration rules on page 73 of the Player Manual, particularly in relation to the penetration limit. The relevant sections state that: Armor Modifier: The armor modifier is applied to any armor levels before determining penetra...

Re: Called Shots v. Vehicles

I'd think that the ability to target parts of a vehicle may carry over to other heavy weapons as well. Recently we've seen ATGM troops aiming for particular locations on armor. Even RPGs, though often the range on such weapons prevents the firer from having the time to be able to adequately secure a...

Re: Anyone else bothered by the armor values?

I think it's important to note that most systems in 4e are simply designed to be approximations of actual values and scenarios. If you're looking for War Thunder type simulation out of a game that was purposefully designed as an abstract system, you're going to have a bad time. I don't say that to ...
