Re: One Rule to bind them.

What about creating a Loremaster Character that acts as a main villian? It would allow you to model something closer to a PC in terms of power and abilities, without having to alter the mechanics of Adversaries.

Re: Specialities

I don't think there's a reason why you CAN'T put them in, if they really interest you, but as to why they were removed? I suspect it was to reduce redundancy and make room for useful items, similar to how cultural rewards were removed to make room for Magical Weapons/Armor.

Re: TOR2e Google Sheets smart character sheet

Awesome work! Would it be possible to add some kind of random name generator from the examples in the book?

Re: Clarity requested on REARWARD STANCE

It would be 2 close range per rearward by default, however the other thing I haven't seen mentioned (albeit only skim reading) is that the set up/location of the fight can also change this. If you are fighting on a narrow pass for example, one or two close range fighters could block for any number ...

Re: Clarity requested on REARWARD STANCE

There are 3 heroes in a close stance and two bowmen in rearward. They are attacked by 8 orcs. The heroes can only cover one archer, because let’s face it, they are just overrun by the orcs. Just to be clear, in a five-member party, you can only have 1 archer without something like the "Small Folk" ...

Re: Clarity requested on REARWARD STANCE

It's 2 close combat fighters PER rearward player, which means you need a minimum of 3 players total in order to have 1 of them in rearward stance (under "normal" circumstances). There are virtues that can change this ratio I believe.

Re: Do famous armors include leather?

Probably no famous cudgels either. I'm designing a famous Dwarven cudgel that used to belong to a member of an ancient order of city guards (details pending). It's easy to think of the dwarves as being universally "good" because they belong to the Free People of Middle-earth and resist the shadow, ...

Re: Do famous armors include leather?

Well, I suspect that the Dwarves would tend to undervalue leather armor and generally would not produce or use it. Famous Dwarven Armors just would be incredibly rare if they exist at all. My idea for some dwarven leather armor that I'm trying to work into my campaign is to say that the leather arm...

Re: Do famous armors include leather?

Just curious what other people are doing. Since famous war gear is supposed to be old, it seems like they would not include leather shirts or corselets. So any Rangers with "Endurance of the Ranger" just have to make do with a helm and weapons. Otherwise, maybe Numenoreans had some enchantment to m...

Re: Alpha Feedback - No more Cultural Rewards? On Virtues & Rewards

Are magic items common in middle earth??? I think it's less that magic items are common, and more that those in service against the shadow seem to find (or be chosen by) just the right amount of magical gear, like when the fellowship stopped at the troll cave and the hobbits managed to find perfect...
