Re: I hate Encumbrance Units!

I think Load works. We've been using Weight but I do think it draws confusion/complaints from pedants. Encumbrance doesn't feel right.

Re: Beta Feedback - Player's Manual Chapter 5 Gear

A stretch certainly is a lot easier to manage than a shift! Although I have the same question about vehicles now The answer to my other question, then, is that since you're allowed a stretch or two of leeway anyway when doing a shift activity, if you repair your guns then you will also probably main...

Re: Many Concerns

I think the section on speeding up NPC play could use some rewriting and re-formatting, but, that aside, why would you otherwise assume that NPCs use different rules? The CUF rules exist, and if you want to apply them to your NPCs, then it's quite easy to do so using the rules as written. There's no...

Re: Many Concerns

Yeah, I need to just resort to using the index more often. I'm also not saying to repeat verbatim entire rules sections, but some significant callout or formatting (with the reference to "full rules on p.XX") would sure help a lot. There are a lot of excellent references to where to find rules, now ...

Re: Beta Feedback - Player's Manual Chapter 5 Gear

Well, I probably missed them because of the callout block formatting then, which causes more than a few issues like that in this book. It's a nice design element to break up the page, but it's never where I look for a primary rule reference! I see one of those and I think pull quote, or reminder, or...

Re: Rule Clarification: Suppression (2 questions)

Well, it's important because seeing your buddy take damage triggers a CUF check. Stress is not damage, so seeing your buddy take stress (for instance, by failing a CUF check) does not trigger a CUF check. This eliminates one potentially enormous source of stress cascades.

Re: Beta Feedback - Player's Manual Chapter 5 Gear

p91, Gun Care (& Vehicle Maintenance): These callout boxes (new to the Beta, I believe) make it clear you need to continuously maintain your weapons & vehicles, or they will lose reliability. What is not clear now is whether doing repair on these items also counts as maintenance, counts only on a su...

Re: Rule Clarification: Suppression (2 questions)

Yeah, I found the way these rules were presented to be confusing at first, but then I realized it's just two different ways of saying the same thing. Of course, that's still confusing, but it's not contradictory. I had missed until now the point that you take stress any time you see your buddy take ...

Re: Many Concerns

I haven't found much significant lack of clarity. A few more (carefully proofread!) examples would be nice to solidify the points but there are only a few rules I have found to be ambiguous or truly confusing. In each case, if there's not a good argument for one way versus another I've just picked t...
