Re: [Moved] Monster Attacks

Good points there. As to the TPK, I was only suggesting that the potential (though unlikely) maximum damage is enough to kill an entire party not that this could happen as the damage could only be applied to a single target. It’s just my way is saying “that could be an awful lot of damage”. I still ...

Re: [Moved] Monster Attacks

No no - any confusion was my fault. 1. The reason I was suggesting that I feel the core rules are badly written was in the case of the Griffin. The rules say that the attack (singular) can be dodged or parried but it should say attacks (plural). It would then be clearer (if plural) that you can’t bl...

Re: [Moved] Monster Attacks

Though if it wasn’t worded badly (or at least wasn’t worded well) then why change it :)

Of course your answer regarding armour is correct but only assuming chainmail is worn. I doubt that any player with a magic user will agree with you that on average none of the attacks will cause any damage.

Re: [Moved] Monster Attacks

Hey Fenhorn. Thanks for your thoughts which I’m inclined to agree with though it does make this sort of attack horribly dangerous. For example the Griffin could cause 48 points of damage in a single attack (though it’s unlikely). Forget killing a PC - that’s enough for a TPK. It’s also more damage t...

[Moved] Monster Attacks

There are at least a couple of monsters that get multiple strikes per action (eg when rolling a 1 for the Titan / Bestiary or rolling a 2 for the Griffin / core rules). The Titan gets to make 3 separate blows making the action almost impossible to completely dodge as only PCs with Fast Footwork can ...

Re: Bestiary Beta Feedback

Not a fan of the repeated ‘kin’ suffix. It’s seemingly used everywhere but it looks like there are a lot of fans of it so I’m probably in the minority. I’ll add in my own names for such creatures no doubt as my group will simply start calling everything ????kin. On a different note, a chart showing ...

Re: Bestiary Beta Feedback

In the Preface, first paragraph, we have “…all manners of creatures”. The expression is “…all manner of…” ie it’s singular, not plural.

Re: Dragonbane Beta v3 Rulebook Feedback - Chapter 7 Bestiary

Why is it that characters cannot parry monster attacks but a monster armed with a weapon can? Pages 46 and 84 cover this. Is this an omission from the rule on page 46 ie “As a rule, monster attacks (page 83) cannot be parried, unless otherwise specified”? Shouldn’t a character be able to parry a no...

Re: Dragonbane Gamemaster Screen

Agree on this - I own quite a few GM screens and very few of them are really worth using. Some input on its design would be grand :)
