Re: Rules-lite vs simulationist

I'm not asking for more rules that absolutely, no questions asked, HAVE to be in the game. I want more rules that are there for people to use if they like them and find they add to the story. One might argue that, in a RPG line like TOR, it's the job of supplements to add rules that can optionally ...

Re: Guides on journeys

The virtue is Memory of Ancient Days for elves. If an elf is a guide, they never get targeted for a journey event, so this blessing has no effect for them. Obviously yes, the elf could take a different role in the company. I'm just curious as to why the guide is never targeted by journey events at ...

Re: The Eye of Mordor same issues as in Alpha

If so, this is kind of the dumbest rule ever.

Re: The Eye of Mordor same issues as in Alpha

If the Fellowship's composition makes it so that baseline Eye score is equal or higher than the region's threshold, it simply means that the Fellowship can't/won't be concealed from Mordor's agents. Period. Nazgûls ARE on your trail. Crebains ARE circling the sky looking to spot you. Orc patrols ARE...

Re: The Eye of Mordor same issues as in Alpha

Point regarding 1e conversion to 2e is not valid at all. If you look at 1e eye awareness rules they are very similar and not scaling. We didn't used those we adopted AIME approach to TOR 1e. I hoped they'll revisit this more but seams not. So we'll house rule this as previously. Point regarding 1e ...

Re: Councils too simple?

I think the following description of what qualifies as a "Council" is key to understanding EVERYTHING about how the rules have been framed: Councils represent social events of extraordinary importance, gatherings vital for the success of the Company’s aims and goals that can be influenced by how th...

Re: Not using figures!

I have NEVER played TOR with miniatures. To be honest, I burned out on combat maps and miniatures during my D&D 3rd edition days. While nothing prevents you from using them with TOR, there's also no rules that really make use of them. So unless it's to clear out a confusing situation for the benefit...

Re: Travel rules questions

I had some questions about the 2e travel rules that came up, wondering if others figured out how to resolve them. Are there rules for traveling in safe lands like Breeland? Or should the journey/event rolls only begin once the fellowship hits a border land or something? The nature of terrains doesn...

Re: Feedback from Play

Fundamentally, I found 1E just right for most things, but I also often set difficulties in the 10 to 14 range, and found the travel system unsatisfying. I can see the temptation here: I think I would like to retain TOR 1e and maybe trade the TOR2e Travel mechanic (at least as close as can be compat...

Re: TOR2e Google Sheets smart character sheet

If you take suggestions:

Someplace where you can write Shadow Flaws... maybe near the Shadow path, or in a dedicated space in the Distinctive Features box?

Again, great tool!
