Interesting that the number of Favoured Skills per character have been reduced in 2e. In 1e each character would have four: one each from Culture and Background and two from Calling. In 2e you seem to get one choice from two possibles from Culture (or just one with no choice from Background/Backstor...

Actually, you get one regardless you're using life paths or not. Mind the wording for every culture in the core rules: ...choose one Skill among the two underlined and mark it as Favoured. Note that you also get more favoured skills from your calling, this time choosing 2 out of 3. Ah interesting!

Ah - I see, you only receive one Favoured Skill under the main rules and the Lifepath rules choose for you.

Under the LIfepath rules, it states "An optional choice of Attributes, Favoured Skill and Distinctive Features is also offered, to speed up the process of character creation."

I like that idea Falenthal - I think that I'll adapt to using that or similar. I'm not sure if my group ever failed to reach the top level of Successes... but then they tend to be careful that characters only use skills with a good chance of success - quite a reasonable way to play.....
