Re: Councils - My House Rules

What kinds of bonuses would the approach give? I also want to leave one more comment to play a bit of devil's advocate. I want to preface this with that I like what I see here so far, but one thing that we should consider when talking about risk and reward is the special success table. So in the rul...

Re: Fun Speculation only

They will cut the chapters for monsters (any monster stats they need will be monsters that are used in the specific adventures that are included.) Eye Awareness, and Magical Treasure will be cut for sure, I also wouldn't be surprised if they cut the cultural virtues and the the long trait list only ...

Re: One Rule to bind them.

The lifespan of an enemy is measured in rounds, and they often have less hate overall than the player's have hope. So not letting them spend hate for their special abilities as the text says will severely weaken them when imo combat tends to favour the player's anyway. And as stated an enemy can spe...

Re: Councils too simple?

Another thing I would point out, in my playtest of an adapted of herbs and stewed hobbit I ran a council where characters asked some Beornings for boats to take the River south. I put a few obstacles in their way increasing the resistance if their where Dwarves of Elves in the party as well as makin...

Love these sheets, but maybe if they could be made with resolve too instead of hate.

Re: Specialities

As a 1E ignorant LM, how did specialties work? In 1e specialities were traits, but traits were two categories every character had three specialties two from culture and 1 from calling. Distinctive features were more physical or personality descriptions (Tall, Proud, Cunning, Subtle ect) the traits ...

Re: Specialities

I would assume that Carcharoth is correct. Useful items seem to replace the speciality and also make the optional travel gear items from the Adventure Companion a bit more weighty in game terms. I suppose you could still have specialties that everyone gets, since it would still cost a hope to activa...

Re: On the Subject of Poison

You can be poisoned but not wounded as well. As far as I see in the rules being poisoned does not equal being wounded (unlike 1e), So a character suffering from poison who gets wounded does not go straight to the dying state. That's how I read it anyway. This was my thought, in 2e poison is a separ...

Re: On the Subject of Poison

I am so confused by this thread. Where does it call it a wound? It is its own thing isn't it? If you are shot by a poisoned arrow or stung by a poisoned stinger - you are poisoned until you shrug it off with a G rune or a successful healing roll is made (once per day). You take a certain amount of ...

Re: On the Subject of Poison

We seem to largely agree, my contention then is that only we shouldn't call poison a wound because a wound is a specific game term. Poison is its own thing and being exposed to the same poison type twice is not going to cause a player to drop to 0 and start dying. In 1e the poisoned condition was ju...
