Re: RHOVANION (MERP RPG books Mapped by Region, Part 2 – Middle Earth East of the Misty Mountains)

Interesting! I was developing a home-brewed guide to East Rhovanion (and Dorwinion) back before Cubicle 7 lost the licence for TOR. I was concentrating more, though, on the plains east of Mirkwood.

Re: Moria Alpha PDF Feedback

Page 13 of the PDF (page 9 of the text): 2980: Aragorn son of Arathorn returns from his errantries in Gondor and Rohan, and dwells for a time in the forest of Lórien. Afterwards, he enters Moria by the East-gate. Not a mistake, per se, but highly speculative. After departing Lórien in 2980, Appendix...

Re: Moria's Deeps are looming...

Once we get to Gondor, there is also the option to travel South to Umbar, Near Harad and possibly Khand. Not that I would object to an expansion that covers East Rhovanion and Dorwinion. I still place a settlement of the Eastern Dwarves in the hills near Dorwinion and perhaps some Wood-elves (Avari?...

Re: Questions about Eye Awareness and Crafts

I think that there is a good example of a long rest on the "road" in The Fellowship of the Ring when Frodo, Sam and Pippin encounter Gildor Inglorion's company of High Elves wandering in the Shire. The three hobbits are sheltered for the night among the Elves and are able to get a long rest.

Re: Questions about Eye Awareness and Crafts

The rules do allow for proper long rests in the wild, so that's on your LM. No rests at all is too grinder for my table. Where do the rules allow for this? I was also under the impression that long rests were only allowed in Sanctuaries. Without looking it up, it is one of those rules that are subj...

Re: Ranged Attacks and Volleys with Spear

Final thought: Might be a nice twist to have the enemy throw it back? An enemy with a spear proficiency could use that. (If they are not profiecient just roll a single feat die…) True! But not ideal. There is the very real possibility of you or a companion being struck by your own spear. Also, the ...

Re: Ranged Attacks and Volleys with Spear

It says picking up a dropped weapon is a main action - secondary is dropping one or drawing one. It could be easily argued that it's actually two main actions - one to move across the battlefield to its location, then another to actually pick it up. Yes, there is a big difference between recovering...
