Re: My one major peeve with TOR

I like to think that the people of Esgaroth and Dale have Easterling blood in them, and that most gondorians carry a good amount of haradrim heritage, and so on. Talking about cultures and not races is a great step in normality in TOR amongs most RPGs. I think that might be even more true of the pe...

Re: My one major peeve with TOR

I'm sorry if I made you think you caused offense. I was not offended, just a bit disappointed. I apologize for my part in suggesting that you were being intentionally deceptive. Bygones? I did not assert that any of the High Elves migrated from Lindon to Rivendell, though some might have done so. Mo...

Re: My one major peeve with TOR

An often forgotten point, because the Elves of Lindon are rarely mentioned, is that most of the High Elves that still dwell in Middle-earth do so in the Grey Havens, not Rivendell. There are still elder Noldor in Rivendell to be sure (namely Gildor's "kinsfolk" of the House of Finrod), bu...

Re: My one major peeve with TOR

So, are the Sindar supposed to be the most numerous of the various groups of Elves still in Eriador? I think so, even if Tolkien barely mentions them. But I think that the comment made by Frodo that I quoted is particularly revealing. Francesco I would say that both you and Jacob are correct. The m...

Re: My one major peeve with TOR

Also, a small correction: Gondolin*, not Gondor. Given the fact you're aware of this character at all, I'm sure you already knew that and it was just a simple mistype, but I wanted to clarify in case others reading this are unfamiliar and want to look up what we're talking about! Thank you for catc...

Re: My one major peeve with TOR

On a side note that has nothing to do with cultural weaponry, this wording is very interesting from a lore perspective (assuming 2e still takes place in the late Third Age, which is probably a safe bet). Grey Elves/Sindar were only the Elves of Doriath in the First Age and the few who lived into la...

Re: Which future publications are you most looking forward to/hoping for?

I'm also looking forward to version 2.0 of the core book. I also hope that they can reproduce or reprint books that are already produced - whether or not they're updated. There seems to be no plan to reprint the existing supplements, so you might want to concentrate your search on the secondary mar...

Re: Which future publications are you most looking forward to/hoping for?

I'd love to see west of Eriador with the Mithlonds and Nan-i-Naugrim. Probably that in this region, the adventures would be different as there is no dark enemy which is close. In the south : - Gondor (with Minas Tirith / Anorien) + Mordor - Gondor (with south Gondor) + Umbar/Harad Okay, the Halls o...

Re: Looking for Old C7 Forumites

I was on the old C7 forums. I transferred at least some of my home-brew stuff over to the TOR forums at RPGGeek. I can't help you with Garn though.

Re: My one major peeve with TOR

Sounds like we're not getting staves, slings, or hammers. :-/
Staves, at least, probably should be in the game; short staves are typically carried by the Bounders who protect the borders of the Shire. I would imagine that some Hobbits (and maybe Men of Bree) are quite adept with them.
