Re: Do you roll in the open?

I generally roll in the open. That way the players don't feel cheated if I have a series of good rolls (instead my dice have acquired a fearsome reputation). But NPC and monster stats are a closely guarded secret. :) How do you accomplish that? Doesn't rolling in the open give the stats away, for NP...

Re: How do half elves look physically in forbidden lands?

Interesting! I hadn’t thought of it in terms of changing overall morphology but more like the colors and patterns that like the melders use to “blend in”. Hadn’t thought of them as changelings. it’s been a while since I’ve read the text. The GM Guide says Over time, they learn how to control their ...

Re: How do half elves look physically in forbidden lands?

And I wouldn’t necessarily say “good-looking”. Elves in Forbidden Lands are more alien than simply being pretty pointy-eared humans to me.
Don't elves have some control over their appearance when they grow a new body? How alien they look might depend on how much they care to blend in with humans.

Yes, I understand that. But how is a GM supposed to activate the Halfling, Wolfkin, Orc and Goblin talents?
By choosing to do so and using their judgement, I think.

Re: Writing Aslene

I, too, like the idea of having some time pressure. However, I think that would have to be implemented very carefully if it is part of the official campaign. I do think that it would be great to have a mechanism to help the GM create a more dynamic world though. The risk with time pressure is that i...

Re: Tailor and Tanner talents

By the way, do adventurers sell their items at about the same price as they buy? If they sell something in the same village a couple of days later, for example, and the supply and demand remains more or less the same, I mean. I think that would depend on who they sell to. If teir customer is buying...

Re: Writing Aslene

I like shades of grey. Morally ambiguous situations without clear villains and heros. Make the players think twice who they want to support. I would also think the legends for adventure sites have the potential to be even better. For me, a good legend has multiple layers of truth, inaccuracies, and ...

Re: Damage to artifacts

After any of the weapons critical to the campaign though? It seems to me that as far as Raven's Purge is concerned it is the rubies that power some of the artefacts that are important.

Re: Wicker Man

I would be careful with trapping one of characters. That sounds like it would sideline the player for most of the session, or even longer. If it were a hireling or some other friend of the PCs might work better. I would also consider what the true source of the villages troubles are. Ideally somethi...

Re: Pushing someone to certain death - coup de grace?

The way I see it the Coup de Grace is about killing in cold blood. Intention, and perception of the situation, may well matter.
