Re: How to describe the Alien universe?

I will third the use of Alien Isolation. It is the true sequel to Alien. In many ways, it's better than Aliens. And I LOVE Aliens. Watch the playthrough without commentary. The game is perfectly nuanced. I WISH they made a Colonial Marines version of the game.

Re: Close combat and xenomorphs

Even if they were playing marines, they shouldn't react casually the first time they fight a xeno. By the end of the story, maybe. Like in Aliens. But these aren't colonial marines, are they?

Re: Sub-light transit times

Part of that comes from playing Traveller - where the threshold of 100 diameters of the solid body is the minimum drop-out distance radius. (Alien really highlights the YZE similarities to Classic Traveller, including the "2300" lines, due to similarity of setting.) I loved 2300, and completely agr...

Re: The Peoples Union

Curiously, I am on the same case and I would bet that more people are doing the same. In my case, Colonial Marines are intercepted by a Weyland representative. He tells that a planet in the American Arm has lost contact with Weyland and the UA (players are going to think that is due to xenomorphs) ...

Re: The Peoples Union

I plan on using the UPP as part of my campaign setting, The Aspron Frontier. The campaign is centered on a gold rush planet on the frontier that is contested by several national and corporate interests. It was first settled by the UA, but the discovery of Engineer ruins (a megalithic site that was d...

Re: Campaign idea: Alien: Voyager

I love this idea. Maybe there is an experiment where we've connected an AI to an Engineer Orrery and it locks in the course. Maybe they try to shut it down (and fail) before having to go into hypersleep.

Re: ALIEN Isolation Crafting

Excellent comments! I'm not thinking about directly converting the over. Just a few mechanics. I like your idea about hiding. I would probably just add a bonus to their roll for desks, lockers, etc.  Sevastopol does make an interesting sandbox to play in. You could do a prequel similar to Hope's Las...

Re: ALIEN Isolation Crafting

You could probably implement something using the supply system. They pick up miscellaneous stuff and everytime they make something you have them make a supply roll. Once those resources are gone their gone. i like that a lot. But what about interactions with creatures? We need another table, like t...
