Re: Inspiration thread: Books, comics, movies set in a similar setting to Alien + Aliens?

I agree with Outland, is a must see, and while it's not official, it could easily be happening in the Alien universe. I would say that the Dead Space series is somewhat similar to Alien and can be mined for ideas (there are also a few books and comics): few alien species, gritty setting where humani...

Oh, I missed this and does indeed look very nice. Is there any way to get in via late pledge or something?

Re: On Kickstarter April 13th

So, quick question, I really like Symbaroum, I have the entire line of books so far. I like the system, etc. On the other hand, I don't like 5E that much, I understand the appeal, but it doesn't work for me or my group. So, for someone in my situation, is there any reason to pick up this? Is there a...

Re: Long-term campaigns: tips? ideas? scenarios?

When doing long term space trucker campaigns there's a lot that could happen without involving xenomorphs, I found out that for my group it works better if there isn't a general plot guiding it all, at least in the beginning, but rather to focus on specific, shorter adventures, and then, later, if t...

Re: Alien covenant was pretty great

Both Prometheus and Covenant had good ideas, but the final product was lacking and a bit of all over the place. The main issue, for me, was linking them to the Alien universe. They messed everything up, had too many retcons and the timeline doesn't make sense. If they had gone with a new sci-fi fran...

Re: Has Destroyer of Worlds started shipping out?

I'm still waiting for mine in Spain. I ordered the starter bundle (Destroyer of Worlds + Starter Set) and also the Tales from the Loop starter set (don't know if this may be delaying things), but so far have not received anything.

Re: Would "space truckers" have a job post-"Alien"?

My opinion is that there would be still demand. First of all, let's keep in mind that the Alien future is not exactly "our" future. Yes, the technology is more advanced, but at the same time it isn't: CRT monitors, most of the things are not miniaturized but are rather large and cumbersome, things r...

Re: Using xenomorphs as a biological weapon

There's a lot of ways they could be used, but most or all of them come with their own set of problems. If you use them as a weapon of mass destruction there's the issue of what you do afterwards, sure, you may have exterminated the target population, but then you have a lot of xenos on your hands. C...

Re: Plotting FTL travel

My take is that, under normal circumstances, no roll should be needed. Destination will be entered, the computer will calculate the best route, and you're set. I would have the players roll when the regular navigation system is not available, when they need to recalculate the route on the go due to ...

Re: CoTG in one 5 hours session - possible?

All the times I have run it the players managed to complete the scenario in about 5-6 hours. In all cases -for different reasons- I had to almost omit the third act because the players took things in a way that made it difficult to enter the third act and, when they did, things came to a close much...
