Re: CoTG in one 5 hours session - possible?

All the times I have run it the players managed to complete the scenario in about 5-6 hours. In all cases -for different reasons- I had to almost omit the third act because the players took things in a way that made it difficult to enter the third act and, when they did, things came to a close much...

Re: How much do Weyland-Yutani know?

My take is that they know as much as it's convenient for the game session or campaign.  My take is that they are aware of the existence of the Alien, and more or less how its lifecycle works, beyond that? Whatever it works best. Also, in regards to locations: of course they know about LV-426 and, if...

Re: Space Trucker Campaign Ideas

I agree that a long "space trucker" campaign it's tricky, they may have some long term goals (pay the debt so they own the ship, finish a mission like charting a sector of space, etc.) but making it interesting from session to session may be a challenge.  Beyond the obvious scenario mimicking the fi...

Re: How to describe the Alien universe?

Another vote for Alien Isolation. Beyond that, go back to the 70s and 80s, the technology of the era and how the future was imagined back then based on the technology available at the time. For example, VR could be a thing, but it would be all vectorial graphics, blurry, nothing flashy like we have ...

Re: About to buy Aliens RPG. Questions from a total Newb.

There's one scenario with the main book, Hope's Last Day , then you can purchase Chariots of the Gods, which is a separate supplement. I think it was supposed to be included in the main rulebook in the beginning, but was separated. Regarding your second question: absolutely, yes. I have run a couple...

Re: Never Tried a Tabletop RPG - But Group wants to try this!

What about PC deaths? Are there any general guidelines for handling this? This seems like an RPG that is MUCH more prone to PC death. How do you avoid players feeling left out when they die? In a campaign I am sure you can just introduce a new character, but what about one-shots? Do people feel lef...

Re: Prometheus - the Franchise killer

It tries to explain stuff that didn't need to be explained. I actually liked the mystery of the space jockey. I liked not knowing where the Xenomorphs came from. I liked just trying to imagine it. I also liked the space jockey not being some bald albino dude but instead looking totally, well, alien...

Re: Share your on-theme campaign Ideas

I would like to explore a bit more the "world" without necessarily running into xenomorphs. Something like Outland could work great, some stories of industrial espionage and specially I would like to run a story where the enemies are androids (both the Weyland Yutani type -Bishop, Ash, etc.- or the ...

Re: 40th Anniversary Edition

I agree. I do like the special edition, it's simple and elegant, however, the regular cover it's also very good. Maybe the best would be to have a slipcase with the special edition design with the regular book inside? Best of both worlds. But probably too late for that.
