Re: New talent for multi-classing

I told my players that they are allowed to pick other professions‘ talents, if they invested into related skills/general talents first. So when a fighter develops survival, learns ranged weapons and trains general talents of that branch, I let him learn Hunter talents as a next step without any furt...

Re: Making journey/camping dangerous

I would humbly like to add that if you try to play an OSR-style game (which FBL claims to be) „by-the-book“ and RAW, you‘re already on a strange path. „Rulings“ always beat „rules“ in OSR. Much of the things that have been written are open for interpretation, in particular if you read the FBL rules ...

Re: Lightning fast and surprise attack

Funny, in my (German) rulebook it says you receive a free (slow or fast) action before initiative is determined that cannot be parried or dodged. No additional benefits of surprise attacks. So it would be 2, 3, and 4 regardless.

According to the Y0 Engine SRD, it would clearly be 3, 4, and 5.

Re: The race for Stanengist and the artefacts

King for a Day by Jim Pinto is a great example of a free play campaign with a timeline structuring the events that happen if players don't interfere.

And I also like the free form campaign quite a lot!

Favorite artists to support the mood

What’s your favorite artists to support the mood and illustrate characters and landscapes? I personally love the black ink style in the rulebook and steal some characters from Hal Foster (Prince Valiant), though many characters look kind of same-y. Additional sites I illustrate with the Forge Studio...
