Re: Alien films

Everyone is looking at the alien behaviour as if they are real..But they aren’t.. they are the ingenious invention of several screenwriters...everyone of them has an idea on how they must behave, and put in on screen in a slightly different way...i always thought the drones would have some kind of ...

Re: Alien films

In all fairness the ones from Aliens turned out the lights. Takes a fair bit of intellect to work out how to do that.

Re: Is the thematic core of the Alien franchise Marxist and Feminist?

Last I heard it was Ridley Scott who made the switch. But again it's one of those that I've heard told differently in various articles.

Re: Is the thematic core of the Alien franchise Marxist and Feminist?

Admittedly we'll never know for sure, but I had heard that Scott did the most sensible thing when it came to the main character of the film. Ripley was neither set in the script as a man or woman, which is why the casting call was open to anyone. Ripley was just written as a good character and when ...

Re: Alien films

In short, we can sum all this up as the Aliens are from what we can call 'film smart' =p

They are animalistic predators, until that is inconvenient, then they do what is needed of them.

Re: Mission Generator and economics of ships

At this point I am just using extensive gm fiat for what jobs are available and just using the table for ideas. Their first actual job has ended up been from the owners of the ship (the leaseholders). I looked at how much of the year they'd be losing to do the job, looked at what their funding neede...

Re: Trying to make sense of "Xenomorphs"

Took the words right out of my mouth there, you did ... nice to see you couldn't stay away for long, BTW. Also, that I'm able to assist you in some small way. Stay away? I just bowed out from our 'discussion' since it was clear it had stopped been friendly. Also I think you miss understood what I s...

Re: Helping in Combat

Just let them take the action to help, then as long as nothing prevents the person helping on the tick of the action they get the help bonus.

Realistically though, this should be done as a command help action, but I appreciate that only leaves commanders able to help which is a little restrictive.

Re: Alien films

I was a bit of an Aliens fan and remember at least one night being the only person in the cinema!  Given the general consensus on Alien Resurection, I can believe that =p But more seriously to each their own. As a teen I actually kinda like resurection, it was as I got older and realized what that ...

Re: Trying to make sense of "Xenomorphs"

It should be abundantly, undeniably clear to anybody who reads even a portion of this book that the authors have a deep, profound, and informed love and understanding of the franchise. Using our context clues, I think it's easy to say that their use of the term Xenomorph comes from the pursuit of r...
