Re: Soviet Doctrine: nuke everyone

Also, most of the strategic warheads are NOT fission warheads (other than the initiator), but fusion. Much better yield per kg.

It's only the tac-nukes that are going to be fission warheads.

Re: Soviet Doctrine: nuke everyone

If obeyed, it has the side effect of everyone else returning fire. Russia ceases to exist; the rest of the USSR likely follows suit. On the other hand, Chernobyl shows us that the long term effects aren't nearly as bad as expected for a given exposure.

Re: M1911A1 damage

This might be nitpicking, and a "problem" that is easy to houserule, but I feel like the dam/crit of 2/3 on the .45 ACP is too much. While it can be argued that the .45 has a potential to cause more tissue damage than a 9x19mm, there aren't a lot of actual studies to support that there is a signifi...

Re: Character Generation (Beta) -- Lifepath

Personally, I'll probably make CUF a separate rolled stat. To me, it's something that is pretty random and you might find a Civvie who just isn't phased by the stresses of combat while you might have a well-trained soldier who just can't hack it. USAR-TRADOC has established experimentally (isn't th...

Intereesting vid on current Swedish ground force structure

This came across my subscriptions feed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=726jGATTrvU from the channel Battle Order . Its a look at current Swedish Armor+MechInf tactical unit structures (sction, Platoon, Company, Battalion), including standard ranks, and (importantly for us) how it's changed since th...

Re: Beta - Damage and Trauma

Perhaps that's a typo and it should be "if you FAIL the EMP roll you gain a Mental Injury/Trauma" ? That makes a lot more sense, especially when you consider the effect this will have on PCs and the EMP stat as a whole in the way you guys have (nice work fellas !) It's how it works in other YZE gam...

Re: Character Generation (Beta) -- Lifepath

tying CUF to Promotion is a totally unrealistic thing. One of the biggest panic-prone guys I've ever known was an E-7 SFC... I'm fairly certain his CUF would have been higher as an E5 than an E7. (He wasn't all together functional due to PTSD. He wasn't The specialization benefit is for all. Militar...

Re: [ALPHA] Character generation

Unless earning traumas or wounds as part of chargen became a thing. Wait ... maybe there could be a survival roll for each term, so you could even die during chargen! :) Please, no. It was so lame in Traveller that post-CT editions moved it to optional, with short term & out swapped from the option...

Re: [ALPHA] Character generation

This was well studied during WWII -- we can thank the US Army for wanting to study everything. Generally, what we could reasonably interpret as "Coolness Under Fire" improved with combat experience, to a point, and then deteriorated with further combat experience -- this in the context of e.g. the ...
