Re: [ALPHA] Character generation

Unless earning traumas or wounds as part of chargen became a thing. Wait ... maybe there could be a survival roll for each term, so you could even die during chargen! :) Please, no. It was so lame in Traveller that post-CT editions moved it to optional, with short term & out swapped from the option...

Re: [ALPHA] Character generation

This was well studied during WWII -- we can thank the US Army for wanting to study everything. Generally, what we could reasonably interpret as "Coolness Under Fire" improved with combat experience, to a point, and then deteriorated with further combat experience -- this in the context of e.g. the ...

Re: [ALPHA] Character generation

1) But since a term ages your character and that also affect your stats. On the average you will have one stat decrease, perhaps two if you have a lot of terms. Using the Life Path system also let you start with one more stat increase (3 instead of 2) compared to archetype character creation. If it...

Re: Fuel for thought

I always found it weird that we questioned the use of alcohol as a fuel source in the game. This has been happening since the first days of the game in 1984. There are plenty of "reasons" why this could work. Sure we can argue that there is no way alcohol can produce that much energy but I believe ...

Re: Ammo Dice...why?

I don't and have never disagreed with anything you just said. The standard source of supply ONLY produces and issues never fired brass. The standard source of supply is not likely viable. So let me repeat the second sentence you quoted and didn't acknowledge. Non-standard sources of supply become t...

Re: Ammo Dice...why?

It wasn't just wear on the receivers it was also due to the reuse of link. After live-fire exercises the spent cases and link were collected and sent away to be reused. The link was supposed to be black but you could see the metal underneath due to wear from constant reuse. Same with the M16 magazi...

Re: CUF for NPCs

Keep in mind: Rules as written, every lifepath-generated PV2 and 1LT has CUF C, every PFC and Capt has B, every NCO and Majoror higher officer has A.

Re: Ammo Dice...why?

None, but you have to roll it. If you roll a one (and one bullet you do have) you can have a mishap. If the weapon in question is a Revolver then the 'mishap' is likely to be cleared by the simple expedient of pulling the trigger and rotating away from the dud round. Centerfire have multiple bullet...

Re: Multistoried Buildings

Downward fire probably should use the lower of vertical or horizontal range; upward should probably just add the two as a simplicity. But it really does need to be addressed.

Re: [FUN] Soundtrack to Twilight 2000

Can't do a post-60's war setting with the Stones' Paint it Black .... (1966) Pretty much most of the 1990 to 1996 range is going to be stuff the PC's listen to, and I might foreshadow by having pirate radio play key bits... I'm looking forward for foreshadowing with a mix of Aqua, NIN, Rolling Stone...
