Re: Xenomorph and Pulse Rifles

Getting the topic back on topic...

Any thoughts on the rule I tried out with my group? Good, bad, indifferent?

Thoughts on the need (or lack thereof) to do something different with pistols?

Re: Xenomorph and Pulse Rifles

I think you are right there. I hadn't seen ALIENS in a while, and was going off earlier comments in the thread.

When we played our concern was making the heavy military weapons work as depicted in the films.

Re: Xenomorph and Pulse Rifles

Thinking about Gorman killing the ALIENS in the air ducts, the rule I proposed above wouldn't work for that (the M4A3 pistol only does 1 damage). However, in that case, I might create a situational/terrain effect. If the ALIEN is crawling towards you through the air duct, its almost impossible NOT t...

Re: Xenomorph and Pulse Rifles

My group and I agreed that it was too difficult to kill the ALIENS if we were going for an ALIENS style, action-horror, feel. When we ran it in that vein (with mostly marine characters and lots of ALIENS to fight), we made it so each additional success on a hit re-applied the weapon's base damage, i...

Re: Neomorph Decision Issues

I had a similar issue. In this case, they trapped it in a small hallway between two rooms (the med bay and the medpods to be exact). I used the rules for attacking a door, but just rolled to see what attack the creature would use, adapting them as necessary. For instance, I ruled the armor piercing ...

Re: Predator?

I somewhat doubt, super advanced tech and a super-strong physique would automaticly exclude each other.  ... (I would find this to be even more fun and interessting than the way, the official Yautia-Lore took with making them a "Noble Warrior Race") Agree with all your comments. I think y...

Re: NPC stress and panic

Thanks for the thoughts. I am going to try my way and see how it works. As a clarification, I'm not doing this to try and protect the PC's perse, but more to enhance the whole "play to find out" type playstyle. Just in playing through Chariot of the Gods I noticed there were multiple times...

Re: Roll20 Modules?

I made most of my tokens via screenshots of the pdf. I don't want to distribute that, but here some tokens I made out from google image searches that might prove useful.

Re: Predator?

You are assuming that the path continues instead of diverting. Food surplus => Technological advancement => Advancement to the point of society being free to do whatever (generally results in decent into hedonism) => Movement towards personal challenge and personal advancement and personal achievem...

NPC stress and panic

Anyone have any ideas how to handle this? Given how lethal the system is, I feel reticent to leave this entirely up to my own fiat. A NPC panic at an inopportune time could easily spell death for a character. Similarly, an NPC keeping it together could totally save a character. This is probably less...
