Re: What's wrong with the Alien franchise – and how it can be fixed

Neill Blomkamp, apparently, has some awesome ideas for new Alien franchise movies. He was posting some great concept art to his Instagram a year or two ago. That's when Ridley came in and started his prequel stuff. Fingers crossed we get a chance to see something from him.

Neomorph Decision Issues

So on my first playthrough I had some issues with running the Neomorphs. Since they have different and limited skills/stats I found it difficult to make some decisions for them. For instance a PC had barricaded himself behind a door and I had the neomorph ram the door. I wasn't sure how to roll for ...

Lucas Name Change

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet but I think that Lucas should probably have a more gender neutral name in case I want to give the android part to a female PC. Or at least the addition of Lucas/(Name). Not a huge deal but I thought I'd bring it up as a possibility.

Re: Who's gotten it to table so far?

EDIT: One house role: I added a jenga tower; whenever a PC had to do something 'scary' they pulled a block. If they abandon a pull they gain a stress and the PC chickens out. If the tower falls it triggers a crisis.  So if a PC wanted to check out a storage closet, I'd tell them to pull a block. If...

Re: Personal stress and panic reactions

I have a feeling that the rules in the starter kit are a basic version of what we'll see in the final rules. For instance we really don't know how/if traits are going to come into play. I imagine there will be more complicated mechanics but I do like your take on it. As a GM you can always look at t...

Re: Who's gotten it to table so far?

My PCs were Miller, Rye (Lucas) and Wilson. In retrospect I would perhaps have given the Wilson player Davis or Cham for act 1 instead since they have a couple of important things to do involving their skills. However I don't think the Wilson player was bored or anything, he went off exploring (fin...

Re: Who's gotten it to table so far?

I'm a less is more kind of guy so I think I'll be selective in what I use for the first session. Try and keep it simple without being boring. Pick and choose elements that work well and then when I run it again I'll still be able to surprise anyone who's playing a second time.

Re: Who's gotten it to table so far?

So are you not able to get through the whole scenario in one setting? How many of the events were you skipping? I was hoping to do a one-shot but it sounds like it might not be possible.

Re: Who's gotten it to table so far?

I'm scheduled for running a session at one of my LGSs on July 1st. Been doing lots of reading of various novels set in the franchise to help me find the tone I'm looking for.  Just curious as to what you've found your runtimes to be? Have you made it all the way through the scenario? I was planning ...

Re: What to share with players

It can be tough. I feel like there's a little more "heavy lifting" required by the GM here than other games. Mostly because the flavor text is written at the GM and needs to be transposed, if you will, to the players. It's also a little more open ended for the players as well. You are correct in ass...
