Re: Monsters too easy?

Good and sound advice here. I have begun to notice my players tend to vanquish monsters too fast nowadays. I don’t want them to feel like I’m boosting monsters but on the other hand, they don’t hesitate to take on even strong monsters now. At least not single monsters. I’ve tried to focus a bit on r...

Re: Populating Dungeons

It wouldn't be hard to set "Challenge Ratings" for monsters and NPCs in Forbidden Lands, but the appropriate question is "why?".  This concept exists in D&D because in that game, generally speaking, every encounter should be designed as survivable - and, more important, winnable - in one way or ano...

Re: Populating Dungeons

Wow. Not coming from a D&D background, I'm a bit amazed a DM rely on some kind of pre generated weighting system of the developer to determine encounter. Didn't even know they had that. But of course, a game designed around leveling up by combat might be bound to have some mechanic like that, I gues...

Re: NPC Half-Elves and Combat Talents

Another hypothetical situation: an NPC Orc Warrior with Path of the Shield 1. He parries an attack against a friend (profession talent) and is broken by a swing. Let's say that for some narrative reason it's good timing to have him use Unbreakable. Can he? Also: how many points could/should he reco...

Re: NPC Half-Elves and Combat Talents

1. I’d also rule that the NPC gets to add 1 WP/dice to his prof. talent. 2. Given how the rule used to work (and still works for PC) I belive the change of the whole ”keeping track of WP pool- rule” was more out of ease for the GM, not having to track WP, and less out of negering a kin talent for NP...

Re: Question about running Adventure Sites

Don't forget, our PC live in a world without time measuring devices like a clock. Perhaps there might be some odd sundial or a dwarven contraption, huge (Huge?) machinery to keep track of time. But I'd say most people of the Ravenland have a hard time telling time, other than "early/late in the afte...

Re: Can all race procreate with each other?

Probably. Just be mindful of powergamers trying to create an overpowered kin by stacking bonuses and/or taking just the good parts of different kin. We do not aim for that. We just need breeding stock for our army. Its a orc, wolfkin, goblin campain. We consider the humans as intruders in our lands...

Re: Armor, banes, and absorbing damage

Bumping this old thread because I couldn’t find this question anywhere else. As the rules are written now, a dagger inflicting a single point of damage is enough to fully demolish a plate mail and open helmet if the defender is unlucky, however probable that is, to roll 10 banes on his armor dices. ...

Re: How would you rule for thrown melee weapons?

I belive it might sound like something I would have come up with too. Perhaps set weapon damage to 1, depending on the weapon. If it fits the game narratively I generally allow players to try things like this. And the advantage of not having to roll a skill based on the characteristic you’re almost ...
