Re: Writing Aslene

I'm just about to start Forbidden Lands (Raven's purge) next week. In preparing I find the most inspiring adventure types are the ones dealing with ethnic groups and their interactions (locations that pit ailanders and rust brothers at odds, etc - though obv localized for Aslene). I suspect for the ...

Re: Druids and the Maha-signs

Pelagia * * * SPOILER * * * below . . . . . . . . My original intention was that the Maha language should be commonly known by driuds and in deed that they should be able to cast slow spells by formulating and writing what they wanted in the language (this was before there were any rules around). I...

Re: Food Rot

For the food consumable, this should be abstracted to the resource die. When you lose a die it's not just you ate it, it could also be going bad. Basically that should handle standard style gameplay loop as per consumables advised on gm guide pg. 11. If you want to emphasize survival, maybe do event...

Re: Some wording questions/bugs

3) What makes Power level of Portal spell?  I know this one! Power level for a spells is always equal to the amount of willpower that you choose to spend on the spell (it's "Base Power Level") + the number of successes on willpower dice rolled. Example: You cast portal to change dimension...

Re: Intended Pace of Play

We're only one session in, but it seemed pretty simple to get 4-5 xp per session. Especially once the player's understand the xp checklist.

Re: Tracking someone

You could simply require an additional roll, but I feel like I'd bake this into the narrative of "Lead the Way". Unless you want a gamification of cross country hide-and-seek, then perhaps scouting/survival vs stealth? It really depends on how you want it to play at the table. Taking notes...

Re: Can someone explain grimoires please?

Would disagree with this last part. If you don't master a spell you are unable to write down the intricacies of casting. You cast it by chance, so how sure are you of what you did right, and what you did wrong? While I understand that ruling and why you would make it; the grimoire sideblock just sa...

Re: Incredibly Frustrated with the Campaign

Howdy folks, I'm reading and prepping for running the campaign now. My initial read is to only worry about the Marga assimilation when encountering her properly (Event, Marga's Fury). Carrying the mentioned artifacts just keeps the fury at bay permanently. Martea can totally be encountered before Ma...

Re: Can someone explain grimoires please?

My read of the magic section agrees with everything Fenhorn said, furthermore!

If you chance cast a higher rank spell in safety, you can then go and make a grimoire for it. So you don't just have to find higher rank spell grimoires, you can also make them.
