Re: Who's gotten it to table so far?

Over the years the group I GM for has gone from "Never split up" to frequently breaking up into smaller groups (usually groups of two or three PC's). In fact our last game session was 90% split, three heroes went and explored an old ruin while the other three were researching several topics and shak...

Re: Share your on-theme campaign Ideas

The players I run a game for want to play a science fiction RPG after our current Forbidden Lands fantasy campaign comes to end. They want something that feels a bit like Firefly (scrappy underdogs trying to make a living) but with a slightly more "realistic" edge like The Expanse.  My current thoug...

Re: Consumables

One of the elements that really cranks up stress and anxiety is having plans go sideways. Even simple things not going according to plan can totally derail a person. I've watched people completely lose it because traffic was a little heavier than they planned for!  As a rule most of the gamers I kno...

Re: Intended Pace of Play

In our game players tend to earn 3 - 6 XP per session so most of them buy an advance of some sort every session or two. Of course that will slow down as the expense increases.

Re: How to speed up combat

One other thing, don't forget that successes on an Armor roll negate damage, not hits like Dodge or Parry. With only a 1 in 6 chance of any Armor die negating a point of damage, and most successful attacks doing 3 or 4 points of damage, it should be kind of rare for armor to completely negate incomi...

Re: How to speed up combat

Wow, I wish I could help. We've played 5 or 6 sessions and our longest combat (with 5 players) took maybe 30 minutes, most take less then 15. In every combat we've had a least one PC Broken. Although your players might have better luck with the dice because in all of our sessions I've seen Armor neg...

Re: Gaining talents

You could also make it a related skill roll instead of a Wits roll. Or even Skill + Wits to reflect the learning portion.

Re: Parrying?

I feel like monsters are intended to be encountered far less frequently than kin and other non-monsters like undead. And definitely less frequently than other fantasy games assume!

Re: Too many WP

I'm not familiar with the other games that use the Year Zero system, but do they have anything like Willpower? And if so, how is it managed in those games?

Re: Ravens Purge and Countdown Clocks

I use countdown clocks in virtually all of my games and Raven's Purge will definitely feature them. I'm even using one for the PC's stronghold to determine when their enemies will strike at their home.
