Since they're basically sharing the same ruleset, I wouldn't think it too hard to port over some of the mutation rules from Mutant Year Zero? Especially the psi mutations. 

Would being able to push the roll for armor/cover/rot protection unbalance things too much? I hadn't thought of this before I started listening to the Swedish Rolls podcast, where the GM mistakenly does this (unless it's a house rule or this rule is different in Forbidden Lands). That sounds like an epic plan Dorantee! By the way, you haven't statted up the Hydra yet by any chance? I have tried converting him from the old rules system, but it's a tricky one, as he is simply too powerful and unkillable in the previous edition.
