Re: Lethal magic

Yes, and someone with AXE FIGHTER can give people critical injuries with impunity (mostly). Without having to spend WP. This is true, but a spell caster can utilize the Axe Fighter talent same as any other profession. Spell casting should be looked at through the lens of comparing Kin Talents to on...

Re: Lethal magic

What if the Grimoire (maybe the same thing would be called a Totem for druids?) was a consumable resource? One that you could spend to reduce 1 bane per roll. So if you had 3 bane you would need to roll three times to see if all banes are removed. One bane is removed for each roll made, and the play...

Re: Societal Perception of Magic in FbL

With a druid and a blood mage in the group I am going to GM it that it's fairly common. They are way too dangerous without enough counterweights. By counterweights I am guessing that you mean that the PCs need to encounter other magic users as a means of providing challenge in encounters? I would a...

Societal Perception of Magic in FbL

How often does the average person in FbL witness magic? Are those that exhibit magical proficiency revered or feared? Are there schools/paths of magic that are more taboo no matter the kin? I'm curious what others think about the perception of magic within the Forbidden Lands. Within the various ki...

Re: Shove

The grapple and shove actions are a little powerful with the requirement of only a single success. Requiring more successes, or doing a strength contest, could be a good fix for both cases. With extra successes in mind, I like the idea of basing it off the targets base strength. So up to strength 6 ...

Re: Missing Talents

I hadn't thought about this in regards to skills capped to level 5. I certainly agree from a flavor aspect these talents would be a boon.

Re: Missing Talents

This would only make sense, for me, if these talents added bonuses beyond just a +1 to roll. If the end result was talents that add a +1 to dice rolls for those skills (Lore, Stealth, Healing, etc.) the end result would just be a cheaper, in terms of XP spent, way to add dice to your rolls compared ...

Re: Random Encounters

This information is on page 135 of the English Alpha Rules PDF. Left side of the page, first full paragraph. At least where I was able to find the information, it is possible it is featured somewhere else as well. Pg. 135 states, "The rule of thumb is that the GM rolls on the random encounter table ...

Re: Starting Willpower in a Session

At the start of the session the GM has a pool of Willpower equal to the combined Willpower of all the PCs. During play the GM can increase their Willpower pool by pushing rolls for the NPCs, same as the PCs. The GMs accrued Willpower doesn't carry over from session to session. Example: The players ...
