[ALPHA] Weapon costs

Looking through the weapon prices and they don't seem to be based on any internal logic. Comparing for instance an AKM to a PM-84. Both have a price of 300 but the PM-84 is equal or worse in every single way. Generally it feels like at the very least SMGs and shotguns are are wildly overpriced for w...

[ALPHA] Prone and Cover

If a character is prone and in cover does an attacker get both the -2 for shooting a prone target as well as the extra armor from cover? If so this causes some questions, like why is it harder to hit someone prone behind cover as opposed to someone just sticking their arms and head around cover? The...

Re: Ammo Dice...why?

I mean, the cyclic rate of an AKM is about 600 RPM, that means a full 30 round magazine lasts for 3 seconds if you just hold the trigger down until empty. Firing all 4 ammo dice means a maximum ammo expenditure of 24 rounds in 5-10 seconds, ie. not just dumping the magazine in one long burst. My ide...

Re: Ammo Dice...why?

Actually, there is a clear distinction... except that some people don't like it . Full cyclic is full ammo dice. Semi is 1 ammo die, with the standard taught double tap. tap tap pause tap tap pause... until they go down or duck. You are inferring that, there is no explicit definition in the game ab...

Re: Ammo Dice...why?

I have noticed that to that there are no rules for full auto (long uncontrolled bursts?). I wonder how that would work? Not that it will that useful to have. Of all the cyberpunk games and other action oriented games I have played, my players have never used full auto in any game. I did a lot when ...

Re: Ammo Dice...why?

Note I referred specifically to full auto fire. Indeed, however there really isn't a game mechanic for full auto fire. I suppose anything over 2 ammo dice can be considered full auto, or at least several bursts for an M16A2 which could be close enough to fully automatic fire. Shooting ROF 3, or thr...

Re: Ammo Dice...why?

Because full auto fire is inherently inaccurate, and also because machine guns are area weapons: you fire a machine gun into a hex to attack the hex, not a single person in that hex.
But that extra hit from the ammo dice can be from an SVD-63 for instance, not necessarily spraying full auto :)

Re: Ammo Dice...why?

Which sort of brings back the point that increased volume of fire should somehow increase hit probability. Then, a single shot with any weapon is just a single shot. So ... what would happen if two successes on the Ammo Dice counted as a success to the To Hit dice ... the more Ammo Dice you add, th...

Re: Ammo Dice...why?

But really ... what is the difference, mechanically speaking, between firing a single round from a firearm and using a crossbow, or RPG, or any other intrinsically single-shot weapon? Shouldn't the same mechanic just apply straight off? I see your point. I guess the unsatisfying answer is: Game bal...
