Re: The Loop - construction, facilities and experiments

That's an interesting, and sad, policy in Sweden. Here, Wilson was praised for not only getting the facility open and under budget, but for his aesthetic vision. Perhaps a director under a Swedish mandate would have to disguise some of these more alien objects with a scientific purpose. One of the s...

Re: "Bestiary"

A small guide would be fine, especially with some cool art, but as this is not meant to be a high combat game my preference would be a basic template for building various "monsters", which could also be complicated obstacles. That way we can flavor it as we see fit to our campaign but using guidelin...

Re: The Loop - construction, facilities and experiments

Here are pictures from Fermilab in Illinois. This is where I'll set up my campaign. The first director of the facility was a Manhattan Project physicist who had also studied sculpture in Italy for a while. He felt the new accelerator laboratory should also have sculptures and be an aesthetically ple...

Re: Conditions

The section on Anchors specifically said they cannot be other kids, and I'd like to playtest it a few times to see how that works, but I initially agree with it. Kids for the most part are not action heroes with hearts of steel, no matter how much they'd like to be. If they get hurt, they are most l...

Re: Conditions

I was looking at the rules again when responding to another post suggesting hit points in addition to Conditions. You're not rolling less dice (although that's a nice mechanic in other systems). If you're suffering a condition, the only way you can get a 6 to succeed is to use items, your Pride (onc...

Re: Problems of Setting

I'll use Conditions as is. Anything more than Broken means being removed from play. Like Ron in "Chamber of Secrets". There's a big difference between an 11 year old leaping for an iron bar and missing (and her plummeting into the mist below) and an 11 year old trying to stop a car by leaping in fr...

Re: The ALPHA PDF - questions, comments, errata

On further consideration, I find it might be valuable with clarifications on how to handle adults in the game. As I see it, adults come in three fashions: ignorants, those who suspect something or know a little, and a few in-the-know. The general assumption (also from the principles) are to treat a...

Re: The ALPHA PDF - questions, comments, errata

If the campaign is interesting enough for people, I think it will be cool to have legacies of prior kids (who have moved away or else aged out) leave an impact on the current player characters. I really like the idea of legacies. That concept can even be carried into the expansion, I think. I'm als...

Re: The ALPHA PDF - questions, comments, errata

I think the passage of time isn't fixed in stone. Seems like it would be negotiable, like anything. If the GM wants to suggest a setting where weird stuff happens on a daily basis, then time would pass slowly in terms of age affecting your characters. If the GM is picturing a slower, perhaps more "r...

Re: DM at Roll20?

Not a subscriber at D20 so can't help create the character sheet. Will think about a membership, but don't use it often enough to make it worth it right now.
