Re: The ALPHA PDF - questions, comments, errata

I think it's more about the fact that "Not heterosexual" includes a whole number of alternatives, not just simply homosexual or Bisexual. I'll admit its a bit of a strange way to word it, but it's a lot cleaner than trying to fit all that into a long sentence. The point behind it seems to be to inc...

Re: The ALPHA PDF - questions, comments, errata

This is *possibly* a minor quibble, maybe not. For Pride, the Weirdo has "I'm not heterosexual" as a pride. While I salute the progressive approach to sexuality from the authors, there's a certain implied negativity to heterosexuals there. I think you can be proud of something that you ARE (e.g. "I'...

Re: Items

Oh, let the kids find a gun! Ammo, on the other hand... ;)
Ha ha. Sure. Still, it could be handy in an intimidation roll (Charm/Lead) if the NPCs don't know it's not loaded.

Re: Items

Or just trying to get a hold of a gun or coming across one in a Mystery. Perhaps they decide to attempt sneaking into a facility. I don't know about you, but I'd sure want a gun for just in case reasons. Or if they come across a gun somehow, like in a home or at a sheriff's office. Would they take ...

Re: Weapons

Add to the list: Slingshots. I remember my cousin made one and we used to fling rocks in the yard.

Re: Items

There's an image in the book of a 10-11 year old boy brandishing a pistol. Pretty sure it's a toy gun. Handguns are very rare in Swedish homes, and that gun looks toy-sized anyway. Suspension of belief, I guess. Hard to tell from a painting, but it could be meant to be a real gun in the alternate h...

Re: Items

I remember from my teen 80s years that we did have pump air rifles (BBs and pellets), my friend had saved up one summer of mowing lawns to purchase a crossbow out of a catalog - making him the cool one of the group. And don't get me started on the insane amount of throwing stars we could get our ha...

Re: Problems of Setting

I see nothing wrong with providing a logical background for those of us who like to have a rationale for the setting. It's better to have something that can be ignored by those who just want a cool setting, than to have one where GMs and players ask "but how is this supposed to work"? That's suspen...

Character Drives

Why would your character enter that scary building? Why expose your Kid to unnecessary danger when they could be bored at home watching TV? When push comes to shove, does your character follow the Mystery or turn back to help a friend? We are now discussing character Drives. What are the popular Dri...
