Re: Abstraction level

However, I am a little anxious about what I have heard about the level of abstraction in other FL games. It might make me a grumpy old grognard, but it baffles me how, for example, the idea of having to keep track of how many arrows you have fired off (gasp!) is seen as such a strain on the players...

Re: Alien covenant was pretty great

Covenant is fine when taken entirely on it's own. It just ruins everything else. Somehow in 18 years (thats right. There is only 18 years between the events of Covenant and Alien) David has to manufacture the part of their biology that results in queens, get ANOTHER Engineer ship infected, have it ...

Anyone else disappointed by the size of the box?

I loved everything about Destroyer of Worlds, except the box. I've bought all the Swedish Free League stuff, and they almost always come in boxes and they're great boxes... like the Starter set for Alien. BUT, this one was so thin that you can't fix anything other than the exact content of the box. ...

Re: While we wait

The worst part of the kickstarter is the wait...

... but I'm curious to know why the various members backed. So, in the meantime...

I backed because I loved the setting, but not the rules, from prior editions.

How about y'all?
Same here.

Love the setting, not the rules.

Re: Destroyer of Worlds + Starter Set shipping

I think they are.

IIRC they both had the same release date.

I just got a notification here in Sweden that I have a package coming at 2.5kg... that sounds about right for two boxes like these.

Re: New dice system!

Hmm... so... does this mean there's a significant jump in probability from D6 to D8?

I mean, rolling a D8 is like rolling 3 D6... and then it increases by one for each dice increase... but there is no equivalent of rolling 2 D6...

Re: My two cents about small arms in TW2000

Yeah, that works too. But either way, something needs to cap the range; preferably in a way that is relevant to different weapons. A shotgun probably shouldn't have the same max range as an AMR... Well, since difficulty downgrades dice, there's an automatic maximum range, and that means an Anti-mat...

Re: My two cents about small arms in TW2000

It would seem that in the alpha playtest they did, the ranges were based on hexes. They talked about a shotgun having 3 in range, meaning it could fire at 3 hexes range... but they also mentioned that you could fire farther than that, but each "multiplication" of the range added difficulty. So (and ...

Re: The Swedish setting

About the 121, let's be fair here... Germany operated 2,125 2A4's by the time the cold war ended. Add to that the fact that the wall falls in the game timeline, so they also operated some 2000+ T-55AM and 500+ T-72's, I'm not sure that the lease of a measly 160 A4's would be that much of an issue. E...

Re: The Swedish setting

But what does this imply for, for instance, the new MBT? To recap from the first page, Sweden IRL decided to depart from its standing defence procurement policy from the Cold War (that critical systems should not be dependant of non-domestic suppliers), and made the decision to not go forward with ...
