Question on Famous War Gear

Hello, everyone! I just compiled my Magical Item Index for my Darkening of Mirkwood campaign, and I was wondering: do the Magical Qualities of a Famous Weapon or Armor substitute the Rewards a Hero has earned by increasing Valor? For example, let's imagina that a Hero has Valor 3 and has chosen two ...

Re: Estelang is Gurthang?

They're not, actually; the Stone of the Hapless is where he is buried, and Glirhuin prophesied that it would never be defiled by Morgoth, nor sink beneath the sea, which is just what happened; Tol Morwen is one of the few bits of Beleriand that still stands above the waves. Tol Morwen is what, in t...

Re: Estelang is Gurthang?

Apart from any other consideration, if Gurthang is buried by Túrin, both of them are under the waves, after the sinking of Beleriand. Re: Estelang is Gurthang?

It's kind of a big deal if Gurthang is removed from the Turin's grave, since Turin is destined to rise from the dead and use that sword to slay Morgoth. I would speculate that Estelang is reforged from Anguirel, which could have washed up on the western edge of Tol Morwen.

Re: On the recovery of Hate

The rules as written do not address this probably because one rarely encounters the same enemy twice. In the Discord, there have been comments from Michele, concerning "how much hate should I spend" (before the third printing errata put a rule in about that), that specifically referred to...

Re: Do you let players experience it or explain it?

I tend to be transparent as the rules come into play. Also, because it lets me make sure I don't make mistakes, and also because I believe they need all the possible info to have maximum agency.

Re: Darkening of Mirkwood campaign question

I would say that, due to the rains, the marshes around Dol Guldur would become impassable even for the Nazgûl.

On the recovery of Hate

Hello, everyone. I just run the adventure "Of Leaves and Stewed Hobbit" (the first part), and the met and fought the Night-Wight. And I have a question concerning Hate. The group met the Night - Wight while excavating its tomb (they were forewarned because of a previous encounter), and the...
