Re: How do you run your Dragonbane?

I usually build 3D terrain for a location to use minis in. Mostly, I don't use a grid, as the 25 mm base of a humanoid model equals a square just fine. You can just count the "steps" towards the target. But I've found, that I will have to change the way the campaign in the box is meant to ...

Re: Playing while GM?

I'm doing this most of the time, in any RPG - mostly because the group is just short of one player, or nobody wants to play a certain character but the group needs the skills. Those characters are most likely to die along the way, as I want to test different concepts. My players always scourn me for...

Re: Magic and Dragon Fire

The thing is, that Protector gets a lot more important this way. RAW it is a handy spell, but really useful against other spellcasters only. Making Monster Attacks magical, raises the spell to something every mage needs . Like Guidance or Shield in D&D, it becomes a constant, blocking "slot...

Re: Riddermound & Secret of the Dragon Emperor Balance

I've run the adventure for a group of 4, and though I think it's maybe the worst written adventure besides Robber Knight , I don't really understand, why people find it so hard. My group waltzed through the tomb, defeated the ghost in 1 round and the wight in 2. They even killed a manticore on their...

Re: Parry Movement (p46)

Maybe I'm too imaginative, but when I think of being able to force my opponent into a square of my choice, I think of things like forcing them down stairs, off a cliff, into a campfire, closer to (or further from) companions, or even just into a trip hazard. The first thing to keep in mind is, that...

Re: Parrying too weak?

To me, it's not that Parrying is too weak, it's that shields are more or less useless. Shields are a "special case" kind of thing. Ranged and certain monster attacks, that's it. From a "realistic" POV, shields were used for such a long time, because they are versatile. They can b...

Re: Question about water rations

What I meant was, that there's no need for a seperate rule, as RAW simulates already more a need of water than food. ;)

Re: Question about water rations

But it would'nt be hard to impliment a water rule.
The thing is, from a realism point of view, the Hunger-rule is already more of a Thirst-rule. Physical harm doesn't happen from going just 1 day without food - while going 1 day without water may certainly do so, depending on the environment.

Re: Upcoming Releases

I would like to see new material instead of reworks of old books. They could do reprints of those 80's books for those suffering from nostalgia. There's enough remakes already in cinema these days, IMHO.

Re: Question about water rations

I think the rules assume, that water is easily available. There's no desert or ocean in the Misty Vale, after all.
As the consumption of 1 Ration daily is required, I would simply take that as Food & Water.
