I’m unfamiliar with the earlier magic systems. How often did mishaps occur? Was the magic about the same power level? I’m just curious to have a frame of reference.

I’m totally ok with the mishap table having rough results. Like you said it is optional. I think I would feel better about it if the aging was reversible too. It wouldn’t have to be easy, but an established path to recovery would be nice.

I agree that the aging mishaps are too extreme. I would prefer that they expire on a roll of one like the others.
