Re: Piercing Blow & Dour-handed

Is it because you can increase a 0 in theory which isn’t what the Eye is meant for?
Yes, that is what I meant.

Re: Piercing Blow & Dour-handed

I think calling the Eye of Sauron rune an "11" causes a lot of confusion. Yes. At least we fell into that trap, and I think the rulebook has some expressions that lay this trap nicely. When explaining the 12-sided die to the players, would it be correct to say this? The 12-sided effect di...

Re: Elves and their flaws

We omitted High Elves as PCs for exactly that suspicion. Also, we did not see how they would fit in with the other PCs without dominating them. For similar reasons we did not allow Rangers as PCs – it is possible to create a believable Ranger PC, but with the players' background knowledge of the can...

Re: pets

Why not? If Breelanders are attached to their ponies, why should others not have a pet? Cats or dogs would be common in any household, I think, and dogs travel well (cats usually don't, speaking from personal real-life experience). It could make an interesting back story of how they acquired the pet...

Re: Raising an Heir

Hm. I never did it either, but that is because we are just starting out. It is just 1 page of rules (on top of the usual character creation, which I also think an interesting activity), and they seem to be be pretty clear to me, with enough decisions to make them interesting. This mechanic was one o...

Re: The Lord Of The Rings

I certainly don't. It is well-written, embedded in a rather complete world (hence an ideal good roleplaying source), but it also has weaknesses, shows some prejudice and propagates an image of society I would not subscribe to in every detail ("the healing hands of a king" – please …). So, ...

Re: At what point is treasure not counted towards load?

Good question – the rules don't say AFAIK. I guess "Safe Haven" is the best option, that is how we will play it.

Re: Rule clarification time of journey with/without horses

I certainly think the party would be down to walking speed, or must split (which may be inconvenient in purely practical terms of gameplay). The Legolas & Gimli / Eowyn & Merry stunt (2 riding on the same horse) always seemed a bit far-fetched to me and certainly requires a very good horse. ...
