I guess I might as well jump in on this. I'm 29 and grew up playing Avalon Hill board games and games like Jagged Alliance 2 and XCOM: UFO Defense. I found the first edition twilight 2000 books by chance and the setting immediately grabbed me. I have been keeping track of the franchise ever since.

It can be kind of hard to find, but 38 North Yankee and its sequel book Firefall by Ed Ruggero are both really good books for showcasing combined arms warfare in the 90s from an infantryman's standpoint.

As someone who owns one of the ammo crates shown in the link (Military surplus stores are a blessing), the crate is almost certainly too small for the box set.
