Re: Additional skill levels seem underwhelming

I'd actually expected talents to be dependent to skills more than they are because that's common in other games for these types of things, so maybe I'll use that house rule.

Re: Additional skill levels seem underwhelming

Talents seem worthwhile because they give other perks as well. And I agree that without some skill levels, it's difficult to have a reasonable dice pool, but most characters begin the game with a reasonable dice pool in their area(s) of expertise. It's after that it seems underwhelming to keep incre...

Additional skill levels seem underwhelming

It seems like increasing skill levels isn't very rewarding. Each level provides an additional d6, but that doesn't increase success very much if the character already has a reasonable dice pool. Am I missing something, e.g., levels as pre-reqs for something?

I'm still learning the system so I can't comment on the impact of such a house rule, but am interested in understanding the possibilities.

Re: Can you write down chance-cast spells in your grimoire?

Clearly the game designers didn't want people writing down spells in their grimoire based on a chance casting. :D

Re: Thematics of Willpower economy

So for True Grit, is it the final result after however many pushes that determines WP gained, damage inflicted, etc.?

Re: Thematics of Willpower economy

What do others think of pushing foraging/hunting/fishing rolls?

And in another post (which showed up when I googled Willpower on this forum), somebody mentioned using True Grit to generate a lot of WP; is that because the character gets Willpower for every pushed roll?

Re: Strangling vine

So is the plant just bad at hiding? Maybe it preys mostly on animals? I like the Lore idea. I'm still trying to understand the full scope of the skill since it the description seems focused on legends and there just aren't enough rolls related to legends to make that seem worthwhile, but that might ...

Strangling vine

The strangling vine (GM guide, p. 118) is described as an ambush predator, but doesn't have Stealth as a skill; mechanically, how should its ability to avoid detection long enough to launch an ambush be handled? Simply use Agility for its Stealth?
