For me I think the main thing about the Kin description in the player guide is that it needs to explain enough about each Kin for a player to be able to get a handle on playing that character type, this will range from general background, temperament, views of other Kin and reasons why the character might have become a traveling rogue and joined a party of adventurers.
But I think a separate section in the campaign book covering history of each Kin, and Kin secrets, could then be used by the GM in play or imparted by the GM to the relevant player, to then be used to flesh out the character as the game progresses.
The Halfling secret is also something that I would put in this section as only a Halfling player might know of this.
