Player's Handbook p. 184, in the trade goods list, Cauldron: "Gear Bonus +1 when cooking Food".
The general talent Chef does not ask for any skill to be rolled when preparing Food, so at least one of the descriptions needs to be fixed.
I raised this a while ago, as I didn't get an official response I ruled that a cauldron turns 1 unit of veg or meat into 1 resource dice of food. This would also add 1 units worth when using the chef talent.Player's Handbook p. 184, in the trade goods list, Cauldron: "Gear Bonus +1 when cooking Food".

Indeed. The Cauldron should instead say: "Lets a chef cook 2D6 units of food in a Quarter Day (instead of just D6 units)"
But isn't that what a field kitchen allows but costs 4 silver compared to the cauldrons 18 copper?Hi!Player's Handbook p. 184, in the trade goods list, Cauldron: "Gear Bonus +1 when cooking Food".

Yes it is. This have a feeling that "oh, no we forgot about that, lets shoehorn something in". I will keep my skill check (house) rule. It feels better. But isn't that what a field kitchen allows but costs 4 silver compared to the cauldrons 18 copper?Hi!Player's Handbook p. 184, in the trade goods list, Cauldron: "Gear Bonus +1 when cooking Food".
