what if a character with 2 strength hits the gym for while? or does that just allow an increase to their might?
If a character has 2 Strength, that probably means they aren’t the type to hit the gym in the first place.

It's a bit of a myth that you need to "hit the gym" to gain strength and fitness, however. For example, I've lost several stone and gained considerably in endurance just by spending 10 minutes a day doing press-ups and planking (5 batches of 20; takes literally no time at all), and by walking for 40 minutes every day (two quick 20 minute walks). Hardly a gruelling, time-consuming routine, and yet I'm fitter, healthier, stronger, and more defined. How much fitter then, for example, could someone who is trekking, travelling, and enduring hardships *every day while adventuring* become? I can tell you, unless they've some way of avoiding even the most basic of exercise involved in an adventuring life (or there is a medical reason for being frail), they will reach at least average fitness levels in pretty short order, even if they were lower to begin with.

I don't have a problem with attributes being set, I am not sure what is added to the game by having an option to spend xp to increase an attribute, except ever increasing dice pools and power levels. To me this game isn't about that.

I do like the rule that as you age you lose an attribute point but for starting characters you get an increase in lived experience shown with extra talents and skill points.

Another way to look at it is that the characters already have an actice adventuring lifestyle and so have alraedy reached their peak, and that's why stats start at a minimum of 2 rather than 1.

I agree with Rymdhampster. And also, because effectiveness is abstracted into the skill roll (for example, you don’t just make your melee roll to see of you hit, damage is also calculated from your extra successes) some degree of physical development, is arguably also abstracted into the development of skill ranks and talents
