Re: Magical Healing and Permanent Injuries

- Permanent injury with dismemberment: can be healed with the rank 2 healing spell if you still have the body part! The healing spell has to be cast within the time limit and has to be performed on a fresh wound, with a decently fresh body part (not too rotten etc). So basically it's okay to bind the wound and get to a healer asap, but you can't perform lesser healing magic on it to stop the bleeding and then a week later go to a better healer and get the arm "glued back on".
Interesting interpretation. I like it.
Since the rules are silent on the subject of healing lopped off body parts, would you allow healing the part instead of the person? I can see some amusing uses for this...

Keeping a lopped off hunk of meat fresh and "alive" feels like it's more necromancy than healing magic to me... In my head healing magic requires life force/a soul/happy good energy stuff to work with and strengthen.

Great conversation here. :)

Our initial idea was that permanent injuries can't be healed using Mend Wounds. I think the house rules suggested here are great though. :)

I found that my players got a lot more nervous about the Rust Brothers when I made their top brass lvl 3 healers. (Our version of the official setting uses the notion that things can only be truly understood through their inversions. Thus the land's most sought after healer is a necromancer. It becomes a hall of mirrors quickly.)
