But if you can use this system the enemies will be able to use it to. There would be a high mortality rate. In FL the Weapons have attributes like Parry or Hooked and I don’t remember that there is something like that in Coriolis. But I can be mistaken.

So this is now two things:
1) Where are the stunts?
2)Should making a critical hit be allowed as a stunt so weapons have critical ratings?

I vote yes to number 2) as it is thematically appropriate and narratively fun!  it will add a note of caution for players going up against a more heavily armed enemy.

I can live with crits. I don’t have to use them if I think it makes combat to lethal. Reminds me of Rolemaster. Don’t know one character that died of hp loss but crits were the currency of the game ;)

And it makes the Executioner and Lucky talents more useful, especially as most NPC opponents are bereft of life once broken.

(it would be a lot easier if we had a cross-sword font that I could use instead of saying 6s!)
EDIT: I haven't used the ibb.co service before and have no idea how long the images will be left in the system since I was unfortunate in my thinking and didn't create an account. Maybe Fria Ligan can create a lasting solution?

I agree, it would be good to have some information on stunts - or whatever else can be done with 'surplus' successes. A thought that struck me this morning around the whole pushing / misery / willpower mechanic was that the more highly skilled your character is, the less likely they are to need to 'push' rolls, and so are likely to generate less willpower, limiting the ability of, e.g. a powerful sorcerer to cast spells.

This could lead to a situation where characters succeed in a test, but push anyway and actually 'want' to sustain harm in order to scrape up a couple of willpower points in order to use something that is core to the concept of the character.

I like the use of 'critical successes' in Coriolis to get bonus effects - one option might be that if you roll some sort of 'uber-success', you generate a Willpower point without Misery as the sense of triumph and self-worth boosts you.

Another effect of a critical success might be to heal a point of Misery as you 'get your second wind' or 'snap out of it'.

Thoughts?

Sounds good to me. I never liked that you have to push to get your WP. And you’re absolutely correct. When you are getting powerful you have to push to get WP even if it’s not necessary. But with your suggestion you get a bonus when you are really successful. Perhaps that should be limited that you can transfer only one über-success in a WP?

You're spot on Kull. A limit like that is exactly what I would envisage. By 'uber-success', I meant if you rolled 3 or 4 successes you receive a WP or heal a point of related misery. In Coriolis, 1 or 2 successes is just a vanilla success for non-combat skill rolls - you need 3 or more for a special effect.

Damn, have to play Coriolis ;)
How do characters generate WP in Coriolis? The same as in FL by pushing? Don’t have the rules at hand.
