Errata to Mutant: Year Zero PDF v2

Wed 30 Nov 2016, 21:12

Per Genlab Alpha, here are the official changes (that I could find) to Mutant: Year Zero rules not already added to the PDF version 2.

NPCs AND MUTATIONS At the start of each session, the GM gets a number of Mutation Points to her pool equal to the total number of MP that the players have combined.

Reflexes Mutation Fight or Shoot an enemy a second time in the same turn. The extra attack costs you 1 MP. You don’t get an extra maneuver. (E)

INITIATIVE ROLL Roll a D6 each. No skill is used, and you can’t push the roll. The one who rolls highest acts first. If it’s a tie, highest current Agility score goes first. If it’s still a tie, break it with any unmodified die roll.

GRAPPLING As a stunt when you Fight, you can choose to pin your opponent down using fangs and claws, or just your body weight. To break loose, your opponent needs to win an opposed roll for Fight against you. This roll counts as an action for your opponent but not for you. While pinned, your opponent can perform no other action requiring physical movement.
Grapple Attack: While grappling someone, the only physical action you can perform is a grapple attack against the opponent. This counts as a normal close combat attack, with these differences:
--You can’t use any weapon.
--You get a +2 modification.
--Your enemy cannot defend against the attack.

RECOVERY
--Strength: A ration of food per point of Strength to be restored.
--Agility: A ration of water per point of Agility to be restored.

You are welcome. Any chance this could get pinned to the top? It took me a while to gather this information and I hope to make it easier for others new to the game to find the updates. Thanks!

I noticed a slight difference in one of the stunts of the Shoot skill between Mutant Year Zero and Genlab Alpha.

In MYZ says: "Your target drops a weapon or another handheld object. You choose which" .In Genlab Alpha: "Your target drops a weapon or another handheld object. Your target’s initiative score isalso decreased one point" .

Will be great if you post in the forum some kind of FAQ or updated rules in english.

By the way, the game is awesome. Can't wait to get my Coriolis and Tales From the Loop games :D

I also noticed a clarification on ammunition. In the PDF v2, you have this text:

"TINY ITEMS & BULLETS
Things even smaller than light items are called tiny. They are so small and light that they don’t encumber you at all. The rule of thumb is: if the item can be hidden in a closed fist, it’s tiny. Tiny things must be noted on your character sheet even if they don’t encumber you.

Bullets: Individual bullets count as tiny items. However, more than 10 bullets count as a light item, more than 20 as a basic item and more than 40 as a heavy item."

The Genlab PDF I have specifies:

"TINY ITEMS

Things even smaller than light items are called tiny. They are so small and light that they don’t encumber you at all. The rule of thumb is: if the item can be hidden in a closed fst, it’s tiny. Tiny  things must be noted on your character sheet even if they don’t encumber you.

AMMUNITION
Bows require arrows, slings require stones and firearms from the Old World require bullets. A few arrows, rocks or bullets count as tiny items. Ten or more counts as a light item, over 20 as a normal item and over 40 as a heavy item."

Figured I'd mention it because, before I got GA, we had a whole spat over how to handle arrows, since they weren't clarified in the v2 PDF aside from having a weight of "-" in the Gear and Services table.

For those who have a first addition book or PDF these are the changes I noticed.  There may be additional that are in the GM section but I have not looked at those since I am a player in all this.

Page 1 second printing note “...this book remains essentially the same, but a few typos and errors have been fixed.  In addition, some minor rule updates have been made: Opposed rolls have been added (page 48), affecting the sneak (page 50), scout (page 51), and manipulate (page 53) skills.  Also, the Dog Handler’s talents (page 64), the initiative rules (page 79), the rules for armor (page 88), and recovery of strength and agility (page 90) have been updated.”

These are mostly paraphrasing the rule changes
48 opposed roles added.
50 sneak opposed
50 sneak stunt is +1 not - per DEV not reprinted
51 scout opposed
52 sense emotion opposed
53 manipulate opposed
64 all dog handler talents stay if dog dies
65 all slave talents should read shake it off not endure
66 combat vet is 2d6 pick better
67 light eater is every OTHER day
67 never surrender the word SERIOUS removed
67 weapon specialist now only +1 instead of +2
71 MP requirement for all mutation use other than corpse eater (still looks to be free)
72 extreme reflexes now +2 not +5 and only one second attack
79 initiative 1d6 then use agility for ties
84 Defense not lost if miss. From DEVS the line “If he misses anyway, your defense is wasted” should be removed
88 Armor add the line “Unless all damage is absorbed” before the statements on damaging armor so if the armor absorbs it all the armor takes no damage from rolled (1) on gear dice.
260 Arrows weight on table is – (blank) per DEV treat like bullets (10 is light item)
260 weight for rot suit now 1 not -

The second printing note states a change on page 90 but I cannot find one.  I hear Genlab changed it to 1 grub per strength recovered instead of all and same with water/ agility but it is NOT in the second printing. Both page 90 on recovery and 92 for starving and dehydration state after you fix starvation it takes only 1 more grub to fix ALL damage to strength.  I am not sure why the note on second printing says it was changed... it was not.

In the rulebook, the project Arsenal mentions breech-loaded firearms. No stats are given for these type of weapons. Stats are given in the Swedish rulebook though. They have the same stats as ordinary scrap guns but with a bonus of +2 instead of +1.

pg. 178 - The Devourer - The rule book doesn't state how much damage a player takes if they're trapped in the Devourer's jaws. This information is given in the MYZ Starter Booklet - 1 point of damage each turn.

The Swedish rulebook has got the clarification that natural armour don't degrade. Should add that to the English as well.
