Re: Opposed Rolls Observation/Suggestion

I think thats certinally workable, and some games based on the BRP system use similar versions of rules like that.

I think the reason they would leave something like that off is that this game is meant to be much more rules light, and that's extra math with every opposed roll.

Re: Confused about Troll's Spire Crypt

I assume it keeps on waking up guardians? Balancing the plates stops it from repeatedly waking its undead protectors.

IE If they dont figure it out and fix the problem they just have a constant threat that keeps on reoccurring.

Re: More Setting Info

I talked with some of the designers at PAX earlier this year, and they said they are in the process of converting the prime setting from the old editions, it just will take a while because this is a more significant mechanical overhaul than previous revisions. But something is definitely coming prob...

Re: Question for writers/designers of DoD. Why must all dragons be evil in dragonbane? Why can’t there also be good drag

If you want more good dragons talk to your GM. This is a game that's built in a base setting in which all dragons are evil. Their are fantasy tropes with good dragons, but their are just as many where all dragons are terrible evil monsters. I like dragons too. Not all game worlds have to reflect wha...

Re: Question for writers/designers of DoD. Why must all dragons be evil in dragonbane? Why can’t there also be good drag

You can make them whatever you want in your home game but I think that's the core trope of this setting. Ya know Dragonbane and all. I like good dragons and socially manipulative dragons and good ones, but that doesn't have to be true of all games. Not even all DnD settings have good dragons. Their ...

Re: Heroic Abilities Progression

I like option 3 it very much adds on to one of the ideas I had about Heroic Abilities as well, but adds the progressively increasing costs, which I think is a solid idea.

Re: Forbidden Lands

Conceptually, and loose design wise they are (they have monster attacks already speced out.

Its an entirely different core mechanics system though so youd have to redo their whole stat pools.

Re: Alternate Ability Advancement Options

@zcthu3 -

I actually misunderstood what you were describing before. Thats interesting to know more about how that end of the system works since I dont play alot of BRP, and have never actually played Pendragon.

Re: Alternate Ability Advancement Options

On the topic, i would be interested in an alternative method to advancement rolls too. Say the table find them it to random. A basic point buy experience system for instance (like forbidden lands). Skill advance costs next rank and a heroic ability cost 25 or something along those lines. Then you a...

Re: Alternate Ability Advancement Options

I am actually tempted to see if if could retrofit the Pendragon / BRP advancement system where there are no advancement rolls awarded but where you tick a skill when it is successfully used in an adventure and then roll to advance all those skills after the adventure. It also had rules for training...
